HIEP Scholarships for Hutton Honors Study Abroad Programs
All admitted program participants are awarded an automatic HIEP Hutton Honors Study Abroad Scholarship applied directly to the program fee.

In addition to the HIEP Hutton Honors Study Abroad Scholarship, the Hutton Honors College also offers several other funding opportunities for participants in Hutton Honors Study Abroad programs. How to Apply: Submit Online Application Form
As part of your online application form, you will be asked to answer the following short essay prompt: One goal of the Hutton Honors College is to promote interdisciplinary learning, which integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines to address complex problems. We support this goal through fostering connections between students and faculty members from across campus. The HIEP extends the reach of these values to the global stage. In 200-300 words, please discuss what interdisciplinary learning means to you and how combining knowledge from different disciplines can deepen your understanding of global issues.
The HIEP Supplemental Grant is a need-based award intended to reduce the financial barriers of studying abroad. The HIEP Office invites you to apply for this award, if finances will be an obstacle to your participation in a Hutton Honors Study Abroad program.

How to Apply: Submit Online Application Form
As part of your online application form, you will be asked to answer the following short essay prompt: In 200-300 words, please describe any financial constraints that will make it difficult for you to participate in a Hutton Honors Study Abroad program. Do your best to provide an accurate picture of your financial situation including: (1) other scholarships you are applying for, (2) how you are saving for your time abroad, (3) any financial support you will receive from family, etc.
Students who receive a Federal Pell Grant may be eligible to apply for the nationally-competitive Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program, with awards typically ranging $2,000-5,000. To encourage students to consider submitting a strong application for the Gilman Scholarship, the HIEP is proud to support the Gilman Guarantee Grant.
All students admitted to a Hutton Honors Study Abroad program who meet the eligibility requirements of the Gilman Scholarship Program and submit proof of their application to the Gilman Scholarship will receive this award.
Amount of Award: $250
Deadline: March 6, 2025 (Please note that this deadline corresponds to the Gilman Scholarship application deadline for summer programs, but students may submit their materials to the HIEP anytime between when the Gilman Scholarship application opens in mid-January 2025 and this deadline.)
How to Apply: Please email a screenshot of proof of your application to the Gilman Scholarship Program to the HIEP Office with "Gilman Guarantee Grant" as the subject. Once this proof has been received, the HIEP staff will confirm your eligibility and respond with an award decision within two weeks.
