All applicants will submit their applications through the online Hutton Honors Study Abroad Application Form. Required hardcopy forms should be submitted to the Hutton Honors College by the appropriate deadline. In order to apply for a Hutton Honors Study Abroad program, you will need to submit the following information and materials:
The online application form will ask for basic information about you and your studies, for which Hutton Honors Study Abroad program you are applying, whether you already have a passport, and emergency contact information.
Additionally, you will be asked to respond to three short essay prompts and for instructor reference contact information. Please see the sections below for more details on these requirements.
As part of your online application, you will be asked to respond to the following essays:
Essay #1: Why is this program a good fit? (300-500 words)
Write a statement describing your background and reasons for choosing this specific program. How do you anticipate participation in this program will support your future academic and/or professional goals? Include any other information that you feel is relevant to your application.
Essay #2: Adaptability (150-250 words)
Describe a time when you had to adapt to a new environment and/or interact with people who were different from you (here in the U.S. or abroad). How has this experience prepared you for studying abroad?
Essay #3: Group Dynamics (150-250 words)
The success of the program can depend on the ability of the group to live and study with one another in harmony. Describe a prior experience with a group situation and how you navigated the social dynamics.
You should type your essays in Word, copy and paste them into the form, and then check for any formatting errors.
You will need to list a reference that we may contact if we have additional questions related to your preparedness to study abroad. This individual should be a current or past professor or instructor. Please be prepared to provide the name, title, and email address for your instructor reference.
Please bring or mail a hardcopy version of the HHSA Agreement and Release Form to the Hutton Honors College by your program's final application deadline. All signature should be original. If you are a dependent student (i.e. You are claimed on your parent or guardian's tax return), your parent or guardian will also need to sign the form.
When you apply for a Hutton Honors Study Abroad program you gain access to a variety of scholarships and grants to help fund your time abroad. Please visit our page on scholarships to view available funding opportunities. Scholarship applications should be submitted no later than your program's final application deadline.
